| Salut le monde. Ron, j'ai vu qu'il y a une version digipack de Katorz sur le Web. Qui pourrait me dire ce qu'il y a dessus a part les 10 tounes? J'ai regardé partout et pas trouvé de description dans rien, meme pas Amazon.
PS: ceux qui n'ont pas entendu Tricky Woo, quessé vous attendez?

| Michel "Away" Langevin a participé a un autre projet: Les Ecorchés. Je n'étais pas au courant du tout... Voici la news de Blabber-ouache:

LES ÉKORCHÉS, the new Montréal, Québec, Canada-based project featuring vocalist Marc Vaillancourt from B.A.R.F., drummer Michel "Away" Langevin from VOIVOD, guitarist Pat Gordon from GHOULUNATICS and cellist Philippe Mius d'Entremont from MARUKA, will release its self-titled debut album on February 27 via Indica Records. The all-acoustic CD, which is described as a mix of "old-school hardcore and some metal riffs," was produced by Glen Robinson, who previously worked with VOIVOD on the "Nothingface" and "Katorz" albums. En passant, y'a un nouveau BERURIER NOIR que j'ai pu écouter chez Archambault. C'est plate que le band n'a pas su se renouveller sur le nouveau disque. Ils sonnent presqu'exactement comme dans les annees 80 quand j'etais ti-cul et fan. J'aurais cru qu'au moins le guitariste aurait appris a riffer plus vite ou un peu plus complexe--Ministry, eux ont reussi a se reinventer sur leur dernier CD. En tk, la pochette est jolie mais je prefere mon CD "remaster" compilation de "Beru" avec les vieilles tounes, du moins pour le moment. "Lobotomie papa, lobotomie maman, j'ai un trou dans la tete, j'me souviens plus de rien"

Never before in the history of the planet has there been so much music floating around, of all kinds and easily accessible. Thanks to iTunes and its cousins, from YouTube (great for live concert clips) and MySpace (unsigned bands) to satellite radio, Internet radio and the vast underworld of illegal file sharing — well, as Aretha almost said, What you want, baby, you got.
As a music lover, Andreas Katsambas, 35, can appreciate all that. He remembers what a struggle it was to get his fill of his favorites — PINK FLOYD, AC/DC and SLAYER, in that order — when he was growing up on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Which is why a part of him is just as thrilled with the modern digital cornucopia as the rest of us are. But as CEO of The End Records (theendrecords.com), a nine-year-old heavy-metal label in New York City, Katsambas fears for the life of his company.
On the face of it, you might think the guy's in pretty good shape. After launching in his bedroom in San Diego in 1999 and shifting operations to Salt Lake City in 2002, Katsambas moved this past summer to new headquarters in the trendy East Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn. (Incredibly, 13 of The End's 14 loyal employees followed.)
Sales in 2006 were $3.5 million, up 25 percent over the year before, and the company is profitable. In December, Katsambas signed a North America licensing agreement with celebrated Finnish monster-rockers LORDI, whose members dress as mummies and vampires. LORDI's "Hard Rock Hallelujah" took first prize at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, an annual pan-European jamboree that launched the careers of ABBA and CELINE DION.

VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin recently commented on the rumors that the band is planning to embark on a tour once the group's bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted has recovered from his recent shoulder injury.
Said Away: "Well, we certainly hope to be able to promote the next album and [last year's] 'Katorz' live in 2008 but no plans have been laid down yet. Of course, we're not thinking of replacing [guitarist] Piggy [who died of colon cancer in August 2005]. It would be more of a tribute to him type of thing. It's still too early to think about a tour. In fact, I'm preparing myself mentally to hear Piggy's tracks in the headphones in the studio in the fall 2007!"
VOIVOD will enter the studio this fall to begin recording the follow-up to "Katorz".
Newsted was sidelined last October by injuries to his left shoulder, right bicep and right rotator cuff. The former METALLICA member, who was injured trying to catch a 90-pound piece of equipment that had fallen from atop of his amp, underwent surgery and is said to be taking part in a rehab schedule that could last up to nine months.
VOIVOD's video for the "Katorz" (2006) track "The Getaway" has been posted online at YouTube.com. The clip was created by editing together footage from the album's recording session and the band's 2003 U.S. tour. The group is also finalizing plans to re-release their early back catalog on The End Records. Langevin said the band will start with 1986's "Rrröööaaarrr", the following year's "Killing Technology" and '88's "Dimension Hatröss". He said each LP will be remastered and upped with a bonus DVD.
VOIVOD released the critically-acclaimed "Katorz" last summer on The End Records. The album was recently released as a limited-edition vinyl pressing available exclusively through The End Records' mail-order. The beautiful gatefold 180gm vinyl comes in color format and also includes special artwork and packaging designed by Langevin. The album was done with full cooperation from the band. The release is limited to 1,000 copies: 400 clear vinyl, 400 red vinyl and 200 black vinyl. |
